Mr. George leads the strategic direction of Telescope. He originally joined the company in February 2006, as Chief Creative Officer to leverage the growing opportunities for mobile marketing and participation TV content in the U.S. market.
He began his career in television with the formation of Victoria Real in 1994, overseeing groundbreaking interactive TV programs for UK broadcasters such as the BBC, Channel 4, and ITV as well as interactive TV advertising for clients such as BT and Pepsi. As Chief Executive, he played a key role in Victoria Real’s growth to become the foremost digital production company in the UK and its subsequent acquisition by the Endemol Group. He was responsible for award-winning interactive broadcast productions including Big Brother UK, Fame Academy, and I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, as well as the development of Premium Rate Telephony revenues from Play TV shows such as Brainteaser. He served on the Endemol Group Creative Board until he left the company in December 2004.
In January 2005, Mr. George took over as leader of Interactive Programming at UK cable network Flextech Television, working across its portfolio of channels with a remit to explore digital distribution and content creation, and deliver ancillary revenue streams through interactive platforms. During his tenure at Flextech, he commissioned the network’s first foray into Participation TV, Quiz Night Live, launched two made-for-mobile TV channels and an online pay-per-view download service, as well as spearheading the company’s push into gaming and user generated content.
Mr. George is considered one the most experienced and innovative digital practitioners in the industry. He chaired the Royal Television Society’s Future Media committee, and was awarded the New Media Age Honorary Award for Outstanding Individual Contribution to Digital Media in 2001.
